Bank credit for farming at an effective 4% a year
FarmersAll of India
Updated on 16 Oct 2026
What you get
A Kisan Credit Card gives a farmer a bank credit limit for growing crops, for post-harvest and household needs and for the upkeep of farm assets, and it can carry a term loan for investments such as land development, minor irrigation or farm equipment. The limit follows the district's scale of finance for each crop and rises each year of the card's five-year life. Interest subvention and an extra 3% for repaying on time bring the cost down to an effective 4% a year.
Who can apply
Farmers who cultivate their own land, alone or jointly; tenant farmers, oral lessees and sharecroppers; and Self Help Groups or Joint Liability Groups of farmers.
