What you get
The Delhi Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities pays for coaching at empanelled institutes for UPSC, SSC, railway, judicial and state service exams, bank and insurance officer exams, and entrance exams for engineering, medicine, management and law - up to Rs 40,000 per student for civil services and professional entrance coaching, and Rs 30,000 for other exams. The government pays 75% of the fee and the student 25%, or the full fee if the family earns up to Rs 2 lakh. Local students get a stipend of Rs 2,500 a month. A student can use the scheme at most twice, and the second time the government pays half the fee.
Who can apply
Scheduled Caste students living in Delhi who passed class 10 and 12 from Delhi schools (or are in class 12), with a family income of up to Rs 6 lakh a year and the marks the exam requires. Students must attend all classes; more than 15 days' absence without reason ends the benefit.
