What you get
e-Shram is the Ministry of Labour and Employment's national database of unorganised workers. Registering is free and gives you a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) on an e-Shram card that never expires and needs no renewal. Through its One-Stop Solution you can enrol in and track the schemes linked to it under one number - among them PM Shram Yogi Maan-dhan, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, One Nation One Ration Card, PM SVANidhi and PM Awas Yojana. e-Shram itself is the registration: the benefits come from the linked schemes, each with its own rules.
Who can apply
An unorganised worker aged 16 to 59: a home-based, self-employed or wage worker in the unorganised sector who is not a member of EPFO or ESIC. There is no income limit and no educational qualification. Agricultural labourers and landless farmers can register.
How to apply
Register yourself on the e-Shram portal with your Aadhaar number and the mobile number linked to it, or for free at your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC), where a worker without an Aadhaar-linked mobile can register by biometric authentication. There is no last date. Helpline: 14434.
