What you get

Uttar Pradesh's Social Welfare Department holds mass marriages for daughters of poor and destitute families and for widowed, abandoned or divorced women who remarry, respecting their customs. The state spends Rs 1,00,000 per couple: Rs 64,000 into the bride's bank account to set up her home, Rs 21,000 in gifts for the couple, and Rs 15,000 on the ceremony.
