What you get

Himachal Pradesh replaced Beti Hai Anmol with this scheme from 1 April 2026. When a girl is born in a Below Poverty Line family, Rs 25,000 is deposited with LIC in her name, and her parents each get life insurance of Rs 2 lakh until she turns 18 or they turn 55. It aims to remove economic prejudice against the birth of girls, protect her future if her parents die, improve the sex ratio and see girls through their education.

Who can apply

Girls born on or after 1 April 2026 in Below Poverty Line families in Himachal Pradesh, and their parents or legal guardians.

Applications to the Women and Child Development Department are made on the Himachal e-District portal (edistrict.hp.gov.in).
