Updated on 16 Oct 2026
What you get
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas gives women of poor households a deposit-free LPG connection so they can stop cooking with firewood, coal or dung. The government pays Rs 1,600 for a 14.2 kg connection (Rs 1,150 for a 5 kg one), covering the cylinder security deposit and the inspection and installation charges, and the oil companies give the first refill and a stove free. Over 10 crore connections have been released, and 25 lakh more are being released now.
Who can apply
