Self Help Groups, bank credit and livelihood support for rural women
WomenAll of India
Updated on 16 Oct 2026
What you get
The Ministry of Rural Development's mission brings one member - preferably a woman - from every poor rural household into a Self Help Group. Groups get a revolving fund, bank linkage and community investment funds through their federations, along with training, livelihood support, and skills and placement for rural youth through RSETIs. The poorest households, single women, women-headed households, and disabled and landless people get special focus.
Who can apply
Women from poor rural households, organised in Self Help Groups. For bank credit, a group must have been active for at least six months by its books, follow the Panchasutras - regular meetings, savings, inter-loaning, timely repayment and up-to-date books - and meet NABARD's grading norms. A revived group qualifies after three months of activity.
How to apply
Register on the DAY-NRLM (Aajeevika) portal: fill in your name, email and contact number, choose a username and password, and create your account. Each state runs the mission through its State Rural Livelihoods Mission.
