Free Travel for Women in Government Buses (Tamil Nadu)

What you get

Since 2021, all women in Tamil Nadu - working women included - transgender persons, and girls in higher education travel free in ordinary-fare city buses run by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporations. They are given a zero-fare ticket.

How to apply

No application: board an ordinary-fare city bus and ask the conductor for the free ticket. Carry a photo identity card.

Documents you need

• A photo identity card, such as Aadhaar, voter ID, or a school, college or employee ID
